Cleco filed testimony with the Louisiana Public Service Commission on July 1, 2026 seeking approval to build a new 756 MW natural gas combustion turbine on its existing Rapides Parish generation campus. Driven in large part by Applied Digital's Delta Forge 1 data center load, but Cleco states the plant will serve all Cleco customers, not solely the data center, and cites retiring older units as an independent driver. Applied Digital is expected to cover the plant's and interconnection's costs.
